Between the region of the emitter and the base, the voltage applied must reach the cut-in voltage. Similar to the condition of the diode there exist the cut-in voltage. Once the voltage has been applied to the region of base based on it the operation of the switching is performed. This indicates that when the zero of the signal applied to the base the transistor will be ON otherwise it will be OFF. This operation of the transistor is known as a single pole single throw (SPST).
